Our Story

In September 2020, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), the “bad type” of breast cancer. The diagnosis was shocking and unimaginable. Although I was aware of my increased risk given the fact that both my mother and sister were diagnosed with breast cancer during my early adult years, I was still in disbelief. I had made a conscious effort to change my lifestyle for the better after their diagnoses. I was healthy, or so I thought.
With my own diagnosis came self reflection, research, and many “AHA” moments.
I knew that I needed to pursue the traditional standard of care therapy (SOC), given the aggressive nature of my diagnosis. Yet, given my strong belief in the body’s natural healing abilities, I knew that I would need more. So, as I started my neoadjuvant chemotherapy, I sought out the support of a holistic doctor and changed my diet to reflect a more nutrient dense, low carbohydrate, whole food regimen. With my deep dive into what true metabolic health meant, I was able to get through chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation with very few of the side effects that are common with these types of cancer treatments. My recovery also seemed much easier than I had anticipated.
My personal cancer experience brought self-reflection. Self reflection soon led to research. Research led me to obtaining my certification in The Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health Advocacy Program. Additionally, I am currently pursuing my certification as a Nutrition Therapist Master through the Nutrition Institute of Health.
The concept of the inherent capacity within us all to create a more supportive and resilient “ terrain” or “environment” within which to promote health and self-healing rather than imbalance and disease, is my wholehearted belief. I know that it helped me weather my journey through standard of care cancer treatment. No doubt!
By taking a bio-individual approach and looking at the whole person’s physical, emotional, and spiritual health, we can devise a plan that Is unique to you. In mapping out your new journey, we may review potential toxic environmental exposures, discuss the impact that certain choices may have on genetic responses to disease (epigenetics), and discover areas of your current life that have unseen obstacles.
So whether it is the need to lose weight or to navigate a more serious health challenge, I believe that this holistic, metabolic approach to diet and lifestyle is essential to building a solid foundation of good health.
I would love to support you along your journey.
